Beverly Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol Open House
The Beverly Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol held an open house on Saturday, July 12th, with a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open their new facility. In conjunction with this, the Beverly Airport held a Family Day with proceeds to benefit efforts against Cystic Fibrosis. As part of the day, I was able to take a flight in a Cessna 172 sitting on the left side with the window open as my pilot, Jodie, flew around our house in Danvers, then up the coast past Manchester, Gloucester, Rockport, and Ipswich, then back to Beverly and made a couple low passes above the runways before landing. They sold rides in the little planes, and in a couple helicopters to raise funds for cystic fibrosis research, and had a precision jump team that parachuted in with giant POW/MIA and US flags. All in all, well worth the sunburn! Jodie, I'd fly with you again any day!
