20080220 Total Lunar Eclipse
Total Lunar Eclipse of 2008. All images shot with a Canon 10D, ISO 200, 70-200mm f2.8 + 1.4x Tele-extender. Most images during the total eclipse were 2 seconds at f/5, ISO 200. This resulted in some softening of details on the moon's surface due to rotational drift during the exposure. See the star trails in the two images near the end of this gallery that were 15 seconds -- the drift in the 2 second exposures was just over 1/7th the distance of the trails in these shots. In hindsight, I probably should have bumped the ISO up to 400 or 800 and shot 1 to 0.5 seconds. We'll have to wait for the next eclipse to try again!
